So far I know that the following are performing at RVIB Carols By Candlelight: Toni Pearen, Ray Martin (Hosting again), Sophie Monk, David Campell, the cast of WWRY, Hi-5, The Block's Amity Dry, country Singer Adam Harvey, Marina Prior and of course Santa. Next Tuesday, the Carols will be launched with a free lunchtime concert at Fed Square from 11.30, hosted by Livina Nixon, and will also feature the National Boys Choir and the WWRY cast. It's about time they made some announcements. I've been waiting for this list for ages! *g* I'll almost certinly be going to the concert next week, so I'll let you know how it is ~Julia

Have you ever been to the actual night? I went once, quite a few years ago now. A great night and lots of fun. One of the entertainers that year was David Dixon. After he sang, they went to a commercial break so Ray Martin interviewed him to fill the time. The whole time they were talking, people at the back of the Bowl started mexican wave's - literally wave after wave. It looked fantastic with the candles, but everyone was ignoring David and Ray so they gave up and walked off Buff

I haven't! I usually help out with the Christmas Eve mass at our parish, because my youth group usually runs it. I'm likely to get an entire song's solo this year They usually avoid big solos because it's supposed to be a group thing. And I'm directing a play which will take the place of the readings. Which isn't so good, because otherwise I would have gone Hopefully next year! It looks like immense fun! ~Julia

Kane, David and Michael *swoon* I didn't realise Kane was doing both - it might make me go to Carols in the Domain - though we've got a lack of major stars this year in Sydney

I went to the launch today, and despite the temperature, glare and wind, the performers all did well. First up were about 10 people from the WWRY cast, headed by Michael Falzon and Kate Hoolihan, singing Thank God it's Christmas and Jingle Bells. Next was the National Boys Choir, who sang I Still Call Australia Home, Away in a Manger (with a very sweet solo last verse) and O Tannenbaum. And finally Danielle Soccio sang A Prayer and O Holy Night (Someone always does ) It should be a brilliant night. And Nadine, come to Carols by Candlelight *g* No lack of stars here ~Julia

We had our local Craols by Candlelight last night. A large number of the performers we connected to musical theatre. This is a list of the roles people have performed: * Jean Valjean/Moonface Martin (Anything Goes) * Cosette * Marius/Billy Crocker (Anything Goes)/Jesus (Godspell) * Director (42nd Street) * Ensemble (Anything Goes/Godspell/Hello Dolly) * Ensemble (Les Mis/Anything Goes)/Joanne/Choreographer (Godspell)/lead role in Hello Dolly (can't remember the character) * Ensemble (Les Mis) * the cast from Nunsense * the males from Hello Dolly There were three bands - brass band/navy big band and a 4 piece combo (3 of which were in the Godspell band) I was asked to sing but declined because it was my wedding anniversary so I sat with my wife A really good night! Man all I can say about Guy is he's going to be suffering some jetlag - racing back from London then singing then spending Christmas in Adelaide before rushing back to London for the final result.

And of course, just what Guy needed when he got back to Australia was to be swarmed by a horde of 13 year olds at the carols rehearsal. There were security guards all around the stage, making sure none of them made it on stage.
But of course, I didn't drop in to speak about Guy. Just a note to say that I was at the Carols dress rehearsal last night, and there are some brilliant acts (and some not so brilliant, of course). WWRY cast are fantastic (once they worked out how the chorus bit of Operator goes ;D), as are Kane, Marina and Denis, and others.
Definitely worth watching!

I watched it and the thing that stood out to me was the fact that the singers could really sing and the actors could sing a bit. Marina blew me away as did Kane & Silvi (sp?) singing "The Prayer". Buff

And she looked absolutely stunning, bump and all. And spew for GUy, though he performed very well. But was he reading the lyricvs alot, or was it just me? And he showed Simon Cowell on World Idol, so he's gotta be happy. BTW, my internet is being gay and I'm typing this from the library. SO hope you all had a merry xmas, happy new year and all that. And I'll talk to you more when I can get my internet working.

And spew for GUy, though he performed very well. But was he reading the lyricvs alot, or was it just me? At the dress rehearsal, he was holding a sheet with the lyrics, and reading every word. Surely they could have found him something he already knew, if he wasn't going to have time to memorise it. ~Julia
