A one off concert will be held at the State Theatre (Sydney) on Monday January 31 with the aim of raising a minimum of $100,000 for UNICEF to support relief efforts geared towards children affected by the tsunami disaster. The concert will feature performers and representatives from all areas of our performing arts community in a unique show of solidarity for the victims of the recent tsunami. The event is being produced by freelance producer Alistair Thomson, performer Tyran Parke and director Lisa Freshwater, who got together in the days following the tsunami with the common desire of wanting to do something to help. Featuring the following companies and performers: Rachael Beck John Bell David Berthold Steve Bisley Wayne Blair Glenn Butcher Tamsin Carroll Company B Belvoir Circus Oz Chloe Dallimore Nathaniel Dean Dirty Dancing Ensemble Theatre Company Nadine Garner Rob Guest Jennifer Hagan April Marie Neho Robyn Nevin The Lion King Tyran Parke Georgie Parker Mark Priestley Rachael Ward Katrina Retallick Teddy Tahu Rhodes Toby Schmitz Phil Scott Sista She Ian Stenlake Sydney Dance Company The Producers Katherine Thomson We Will Rock You Tickets: $200 (premium), $90 (A res), $60 (B res), through ticketek == All I can say is thank god for Hats Off because without it I'd be sorely tempted to go up to Sydney for this one

Ohhhhh *Nadine's mouth won't let her speak anymore*
I get back from Melbourne the week before.... definitely need to buy a ticket for that - there's no way I'm getting a premium (well it's going to a great cause, just can't afford to pay $200)
Off to ticketek again *sigh*

Knew you'd be going - you'll have to report back in full of course And I was looking around at tickets on the website and A res gave me front row, near the side, whilst Premium best one was 3rd row centre, so I'd say A res definitely safe to get and you shouldn't be stuck miles back

lol well technically it's 8 days - Monday to Monday But still! And best I've had Tamsin-wise was a month between Olivers. I wonder if they're going to stage a similar concert down here? I hope so! (Esp. if they can get Tamsin ) ETA: Ooh, High Society. *slaps self* I forgot! But that was still 3 days apart (I had restraint back then! That and I was doing a show of my own so I couldn't run along every single night of the week )

lol! When I was in Melbourne in January 2003 I saw Oliver + Cabaret + Oliver in the space of 2 days (Thursday - Saturday) You'd think I would have learnt my lesson of seeing too many productions in a few days but nope repeated the same thing (kind of) in June 2003 when I saw The Christian Brothers and Bye Bye Birdie on the same day (and last year saw Urinetown on the Friday and The Producers on the Sunday) Oh well I'm a sucker for punishment, in this case it goes to a good cause

Was there any difference between Sydney and Melbourne Oliver by the way? I know they had two lots of kids - was that one lot for Sydney and one for Melb or did they all do both and just alternate nights? The two times I saw it there were no casting changes that I noticed, except the strawberry seller (or roses? no, sure it was strawberries. did write it down somewhere!) The Christian Brothers and Bye Bye Birdie on the same day Aww, Carroll double! Well I saw Peter when I saw BBB too - essentially. I was hovering by the stage door with another girl when this man came out and nodded to both of us and said hello before walking off. Fifteen minutes later, walk past a CB poster and...*light-bulb goes on* that was the guy! Hehe my best...or worst it should be...three shows in two days (one Friday night, on Saturday matinee, one Saturday night) or four shows in five days..! A very good cause, so you have a reason for your madness

Was there any difference between Sydney and Melbourne Oliver by the way? From what I remember (going back a few years here *g*), there weren't any major casting changes - although I did manage to see the production 4 times and got the same Oliver in all 4 - so that was a knack of timing *grrr* out of the casts, I'd have to say the Sydney kids were the better kids (it's nothing against the Melbourne kids, but anyone who has seen Matthew Waters in a production would recognise why I say this - that kid is the next big thing in theatre - he's been acting since he was young and he's only in like Year 9/10 now - he was our Artful Dodger in Sydney, and was just unbelievable). Aww, Carroll double! Well I saw Peter when I saw BBB too - essentially. lol - that was like when I saw Hedda Gabler and was waiting for one of my friends (who was in the cast) to come out and Peter walked out because Theystes had ended around the same time and I was like oh crap But the Carroll double was ohh so sweet! lol I'm not as bad as you I did Thursday - Oliver!, Saturday (matinee) - Cabaret and (night) Oliver! - hey it was my last day in Melbourne I thought I'd splurge A very good cause, so you have a reason for your madness Definitely an awesome cause - hence why I'm not staying in Melbourne longer than first planned

Just got back from this - unbelievable night - the talent that was on show tonight - just wow! There were a lot of performers doing pieces from musicals that had ended such as Cabaret, etc - so when the trend was going I was waiting for Oliver to come out next *g* But it didn't well they did have the Oliver! trio of Tamsin, Christina and Tyran singing "Children will Listen" from Into the Woods (so I had a 2002 Hats Off flashback!) Then at the end all the major performers came out and did "Someone, Somewhere" and for some reason and people who saw The Production Company can relate to this - Scott Irwin was standing next to Tamsin (it was High Society all over again - though Simon was on the other side of the stage at the end *g*) and then right when the song ended you could hear this laugh - which was Tamsin with her distinct laugh, laughing with the girls next to her) - which of course lead to the performers who were on that side of to laugh - I have no idea what happened but it was just plain funny to watch An awesome night though - I really need to go through and figure out who sang what, etc - because all we got was a list of performers and not what they were singing. For those Eureka obsessed girls out there you'll be happy to know they sang "Brave New World" from the musical which comprised of Ian, James, Chris and Scott Irwin singing it. *g* While Rachael did a song from Cabaret

well they did have the Oliver! trio of Tamsin, Christina and Tyrane singing "Children will Listen" from Into the Woods (so I had a 2002 Hats Off flashback!) I will now transcribe the various emotions and actions experienced by one James Craig Mason in the moments after reading those words: * pleasant nostalgia - 1.5 seconds * seething jealousy - 15 seconds * reads rest of message but takes none in - 17 seconds * curses the mis-spelling of Tyran - 0.5 seconds * stares at prized possession, Into the Woods poster signed by Christina Tan - 1 minute 12 seconds * seething jealousy again - ongoing I hope your happy! James

For those Eureka obsessed girls out there you'll be happy to know they sang "Brave New World" from the musical which comprised of Ian, James, Chris and Scott Irwin singing it. *g* Okay, now I love Scott to bits, but that's just wrong, since the fourth part in that song? Sean Flynn's part, which was sung by Simon Gleeson. Take a moment to compare the two, visually and vocally... Get my point? Although it does greatly increase the average height of the four That does seem to add to the possibility of Scott taking over as Grey, though. (No, I refuse to believe there's any chance of him taking over as Sean. That's even more wrong). And James, I was waiting for a "(insert reaction here) - Priceless". I've succumbed to advertising
