I finally found the link!I'm quite excited for it I just hope it's as good as Wicked, so I'm a bit apprehensive as well. I do have an lj - dmevb (I have two, actually, but the other's just a fic journal) Well, I'll have to read the sequel. And you need to read Confessions! And I added you on LJ. *grins* I'm Rosefyre over there, as well.

Over the last week and a half (between entertaining my 4 1/2 month old son! ) I've read the book! Totally different to what I expected - much more adult. I've only seen the "Wizard of Oz" movie, which seems to be pitched at kids and I was assuming this book would be along the same lines. Buff

I did. It's not the usual kind of book I read, but I liked it. It's not the best book I've read, but definitely not the worst I've read either I checked out a synopsis of the musical and the only thing that seems the same is the character's names Maybe that's a slight exaggeration Buff

I hope that the people who have read Wicked have all also read The Wizard of Oz also. It's not brilliant if you were to compare it say with the Alice stories, but it's facinating to see that the movie accounts for less than half of the book, and that while Baum may have approved of the concept that there's no place like home, I'm sure he would have been ropable at where she decides home is, and the implication that it was just a dream. He was all about creating a better world.
From what I've seen Wicked seems to live slightly more in this version than that of the movie.

From the Herald Sun today: Wicked tip for Australian tourAs musical theatre fever hits Melbourne, there is speculation that one of the biggest shows on Broadway, Wicked, is coming to Australia. Producer Louise Withers has held discussions with the New York producers. "It's a popular piece so it's a popular ask," Withers said this week. "But nothing in terms of a finalised set of dates or arrangements has been signed off yet." I'll snip out the middle of the clip since I have to run off for dinner, but it ends with: The latest rumour is the show could open in February, with auditions in late September and October. And my squee is it's 6 weeks to the day that I get to see it for the first time. Or, add half a day for the time difference, but yeah

Okay another little addition to the rumour...Logan Lipton aka 'tour Boq' actually told me that he'd heard there'd be an Australian production within two years. So even they know. Yay ;D
