Thinking about it some more, I think Lucy Durack would actually be a brilliant Glinda. Definitely.

Thinking about it some more, I think Lucy Durack would actually be a brilliant Glinda. Definitely. Definitely need to see her in more things to know if I agree with you or not. But with her as Glinda that would leave room for my different Nessa Though the more I think about it, the harder it becomes to cast Glinda. Someone who can do Popular all cute and flippy is easy enough, but someone who can also make me cry in Thank Goodness, and display such utter grief at the end...it's doing my head in, I just don't know enough people well enough I was only basing Sharon Millerchip on how gorgeous she'd be as a Galinda. I'm sure she could handle the transition well but I really haven't seen her in enough at all to fully cast her. Hence, me = lost. I'm not even going to bother thinking about an Elphaba now after hearing how damn different Shoshana sounds to Idina. Meep. I'd really love Kane as Fiyero though

I could definitely see Peter in the role Of course he's got a few projects lined up this year so as long as it starts after Oct he'd be able to do it *g*

Surprised no one has mentioned Christine Anu for Elphaba. She certainly has the pipes. Kaye Tuckerman is not a good choice, other than the fact she is way too short ( and unknown , Producers want 'names') she comes with some 'baggage'.
Peter Carroll too I strongly disagree with. It needs someone with a sense of humour and style. How about Jon Ewing? Or Max Gillies? Or Lewis Fiander? Please NOT Bert Newton.
Madame Morrible doesn't have to be a great singer (Rue Mc Clanhan ) is about to do it on Broadway. How about Noeline Brown, Judith Mc Grath or Geraldene Morrow?(who is a great singer). Connelli is too 'coarse' a performer.
As for Galinda this is difficult, you want someone who is a stunner in the looks department. How about Chelsea 'whatshername ?' from Chicago. Why don't we see her more?

Chelsea Plumley, I think you mean. She's a possibility. She's in London last I heard, though. I still think Lucy would be best for the role.
And Amanda Harrison for Elphaba 100%. She's definitely getting herself up there, with the following she gathered during WWRY, and now about to play the lead in Leader of the Pack. Not a massive name, but enough.
I think that no matter who we discuss for the Wizard, that one will end up going to a name. Possibly even someone like Gerry Connolly (Heaven forbid. Can't you just see it?) But hopefully not Bert.
Geraldine Turner's my choice for Morrible. I think she'd be able to do a wonderful job. I don't even remember who I said last time I thought about the cast.

Chelsea Gibb was in Chicago not Chelsea Plumley. Tamsin would be great in it but she'll be tied up with Dusty so that would be a bit of a prob. As I mentioned before, I agree with Sally and Julia about Peter Carroll - that guy has some brilliant comic timing - not a lot of people may have seen him in Republic of Myopia or Christian Brothers, etc - but he just knows when to turn it on and is always a joy to watch on stage. I'll let my brain fully think about it for a while

I think that no matter who we discuss for the Wizard, that one will end up going to a name. Possibly even someone like Gerry Connolly (Heaven forbid. Can't you just see it?) No, I can't see it, and I prefer to leave it that way. Please don't mention it again. James

Chelsea Gibb was in Chicago not Chelsea Plumley. I realised that the moment I walked away from the computer Thanks though. I'm afraid I'm still not sure about Tamsin in the role, but if things continue this way, she'll hopefully have enough to keep herself occupied, and if nothing else these next three jobs of hers will do enough to keep raising her profile that she'd be more in demand in general. No more tables for her! And it is very easy to forget that about Peter. I'd forgotten it after Eureka until I went back and listened to Myopia and remembered how utterly brilliant he was in that.

Yes, Chelsea Gibb was who I was thinking of. I'd prefer not to even think about Peter Carroll as the Wizard. He is a fine 'straight' theatre actor but is somewhat lacking in musical skills (and I can remember him back as far as Evita).
Think of who has played it in the U.S. Originally it was Robert Morse (out of town tryout), then Joel Grey, George Hearn and soon Ben Vereen. These are all superb musical theatre performers. We have some fine older actors who are adept in musicals, Peter Carroll isn't one of them.
Geraldene Turner will probably be tied up with the musical Rosie! in November when this is all mooted to happen.
The character name of the good witch is Galinda not Glinda (probably for copyright reasons).

The character name of the good witch is Galinda not Glinda (probably for copyright reasons). Actually it's both - she starts off as Galinda (with a Ga) and later changes to Glinda (the ga is silent) ;D

Kaye Tuckerman is not a good choice, other than the fact she is way too short ( and unknown , Producers want 'names') she comes with some 'baggage'. I've been a bit confused about that comment, in particular, "too short"? I really don't think the role is cast on height. Idina's no amazon herself (she only looks tall next to Kristin - when you see her next to Jennifer it's actually pretty cute to see her looking up to Galinda for a change ) and Shoshana is actually quite miniature, from what I've seen. I wouldn't cast Kaye as Elphaba for a variety of other reasons, but would never count anyone out because of height. It'd be fun if we went for an Elphaba who was two heads shorter than her Galinda, lol.
