I post, to bring this comment into an appropriate thread, and to say..... Wow!

After barely coping with her London contract?
I'd really much rather have an Australian production open with an Australian star. We certainly have people capable.

After barely coping with her London contract? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Background, please, before you get those claws out!

As much as I love Idina and pretty much everyone else who has played the role overseas, I think we need to have an Aussie Elphaba. As you said, Julia, we have people who could do it so well! We don't need someone to come from overseas!

Yes, what exactly do you mean by that? And also, greetings from London. Heh, Just thought I'd come here and see what's happening with the Australian production, seeing as not much gets discussed about it at www.witchesofoz.com. Do you guys not want Helen Dallimore to open the show there then? I would like her to, being as she's our Glinda (until next week *sob*) it would give me an excuse to go see her in Australia too lol.

Oops, I'd forgotten about replying to this. I didn't mean that comment spitefully. Just reminding people that she did have vocal issues by the end of the London run and had to miss many performances. I think that long playing Elphaba over the years would do that quite easily.

'Many' being seven shows, all in November, when she was sick though. I don't believe I heard of her missing a single performance in December. Come on, facts straight first!
