amanda harrison...shes in leader of the pack....so no galina there...
i think rachel beck is too fragile and lisa mcune is pregnant...so, i would say Tamsin...
i would love to see kate hoolihan as an elphaba...she would work very well with that character.
judi conelli as madam morrible...
i just hope bert finds something else that tickles hius fancy...like hairspray!

OK, I know certain people ( ) think that I'm just tossing up everyone I've ever seen, but I swear there is at least a shred of actual thought going into this - as best as I can base people on a few grabbed lines in shows and knowledge of what they've done previously. Feel free to howl me down, but the more I think of it, the more I'm really liking the idea of Renee Burleigh as G(a)linda, and Verity Hunt-Ballard as Elphaba. Enough to put forth the idea, in place of a lot of thoughts that I've kept to myself And I know those are totally left-field, and true, I haven't heard even half enough of either, but...from what I have seen, there are definite things I can see. And hey, am I the only one who's considered Irene Dios as Morrible? Very young, yes, but that doesn't matter. I'd hope. Although there again, I really haven't seen her enough to fully picture her...so I'm still going to stick with Amanda Muggleton I think.

No please not Amanda Muggleton. She was a lousy Miss Hannigan she'd make a worse Madame Morrible. Who is Irene Dios?
Leader of the Pack will be over by the time Wicked happens so Amanda Harrison if chosen by the NY team could do it.

Well, let me say I am a bit of a Verity Hunt Ballard fan- but I too have not seen her in enough yet- HOWEVER-I heard along the grapevine that she and Ben Lewis (only a name to me yet- but I hear he's a bit of a dream boat) and Lucy Durack (MASSIVE fan!) are going to being playing the three young leads in the Production Company's workshop of the Matthew Robinson musical that won the Pratt Prize. SO- I reckon we have a perfect combination of Elphaba and Galinda in Verity and Lucy (delicious!)- and stay tuned- maybe a Fiyero in Ben...!

SarahB, I like your taste And I just hope I am able to see Metro Street, as from the dates Matt told me, It'll almost certainly be when I'm in the theatre myself. Alas! You'll be going along to Verity and James Millar's cabaret show at least, I hope? And I think Matt and Lucy will be doing their cabaret at about the same time. Irene Dios was in Blackbird Productions' You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Tick Tick Boom (miscasting there, which was a shame), as well as TPC's Bye Bye Birdie and Eureka, and other things that are slipping my mind. She's another WAAPA grad, and a very good character actress.

Why thank you No I wont get to see Verity and James' show as I live in Sydney BUT I saw it when they did it in Sydney a while ago and really enjoyed it! Re. Lucy and Matt's show- this I also saw in Sydney- YOU MUST ALL see it- it is going to be at Chapel Off Chapel around the end of May- don't know exact dates I think around the 27th...will try to find out when- I can't tell you how much you'd be missing out if you miss it!! And they sold out in Sydney...that's all I'm going to say...

Irene Dios was also in a little show called Urinetown, did you see that one Julia? ;D And Amanda Muggleton is incapable of a bad performance. I didn't see Annie, but I did see her perform 'Little Girls' the other week in her 'Audience With' and it was just brilliant Although I don't see what someone's Hannigan really has to do with their potential Morrible in any case And after we've done the leads, we'll have to get down to the bit parts...*g* Trisha Crowe for the pointe dancer in One Short Day? Interestingly enough, it seems that the past pointe girls have been Galinda understudies. OK, probably only I find that interesting. And I don't have the full list, so I'm sure some of them might not have been. I'll shut up now

Shhh. I'm sick (Okay, so I wasn't sick when I wrote that, but even so ) "Incapable of a bad performance" is a stretch, and you know it No one is incapable of a bad performance. But I do love Amanda.

But I do love Amanda. *g* OK, perhaps if she was deathly ill or something, she'd be capable of a bad performance Alright, alright! *hands up in defeat* but you gotta admit that even just having her there, she's a marvel to watch, just to see what she's going to do. And I reckon she'd be a bloody brilliant Morrible

No I don't want to see Amanda Muggleton as Madame Morrible. She's not "grand" enough and also a tad too young. All those that have played the role in the States are on the other side of 55. In the old days it is the sort of role June Salter would have performed to perfection.

Have you actually ever seen Amanda perform, aside from in Annie? How about in Masterclass?

Yes I saw Masterclass and she was good. Did you see her in Steaming? Did you see her in Shirley Valentine? She just isn't a good musical theatre performer, i.e. Annie and Eureka. Besides can't we see someone else for a change?

All those that have played the role in the States are on the other side of 55. That's not even a bad reason to make a decision. It's not a reason at all. Casting is about what that person can do with the role (though you're opinion on that is clear as well). Comparisons are irrelevant. I don't know the script, but unless that mentions her age... I hate to bring up a TPC example (I'll duck and cover), but with Anything Goes there were reviews saying that Chelsea Gibb was too young for the role. It's just a shame if people focus on these things because there was clearly nothing in the script to suggest Reno's age. I loved her performance. I mean, if we want to talk casting uproars, what about the decision to cast Zaphod Beeblebrox's second head as being on the same neck as the first in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. That was just wrong. James

Amanda in Masterclass - from the bits I saw (sadly not all) - was the epitome of "grand" I hate to bring up a TPC example (I'll duck and cover), but with Anything Goes there were reviews saying that Chelsea Gibb was too young for the role. And how about Tamsin in Bye Bye Birdie? I can't think of any reviewers singling her out for her age, but the part of Rosie is meant to be a little older than she was at time time, or is now for that matter. And she played it perfectly. Morrible's age isn't mentioned - just that she's the head, she's a woman, she's therefore older than the students. And the actress could be younger than the students, and have a truckload of makeup. Or she could even be a youngish and sinister Morrible.

Sally you brought up Tamsin so I'll go with the eg you put - Tamsin in Oliver is a prime example where they didn't want her originally because she was too young for the role, but she managed to convince Cam Mac and the rest is history.
In her case they made the role of Nancy 10 years younger to accommodate her in the role and did we hear anyone complaining about that? Nope got the complete opposite happen, she was singled out numerous times and subsequently did the clean sweep @ the Theatre Awards.
