That is a strong recommendation! The advertising in Hobart refers to www.lesmistas.com.au and sure enough - there is all the info. cast information is not there yet but I reckon it'll update a few times between now and the season.

When I mentioned that Brett was cast as Valjean, Mrs Buff said we should go see it just to see him in the role. Buff

Mrs Theatregoer had a similar reaction to mere mention of Chris Richardson! (-:

There's the third in the series of supplements in the Examiner today. There is an article about the Launceston Players by Jacqi Horne as well as one about the Launceston Competitions which includes a photo of Di Summers from one (or two ) years ago. Buff

Launceston is hosting a New Years Eve party at Aurora Stadium again this year. How does this fit into musical theatre. Two theatre performers are listed as part of the entertainment: Movie Smash Hits Main stage 8.30pm to 9pmWell known performers Juliane Di Sisto and Danni Thomas bring back memories of your favourite movies and the songs that came with them. Performing hits such as ‘Respect’, I love the Nightlife and I had the Time of my Life. Brett Budgeon Main stage 7.50pm – 8.25pm Brett Budgeon will bring the ‘suave’ to the occasion with the tunes of Michael Buble, John Farnham and Josh Groban. Brett performs nationally in both theatre and events such as the annual Christmas Concert at Sydney Town Hall and will play the main role in Les Miserable in Hobart in Easter 2008. Enjoy the presence of Brett on stage accompanied by his dance crew. More information here.Buff

LES MIS in Hobart has announced 4 extra shows. The website says there are seats available for the existing season but it must being doing alright if there are more shows being added. That makes 16 performances between 12 March and 29 March. The website also says no further extension is possible. It is a big year down south - they are doing LES MIS, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and several other musicals.

I mentioned in another thread that ticket sales were going well. Sounds like it's very popular (as it usually is). I'll have to try and find a date I'm free (that is, not rehearsing Blood Brothers) so I can get to see the show. Buff

In the Launceston Players latest newsletter, they mention auditions coming up for their next production. While not naming the show in the newsletter, I believe it is one of the "Farndale..." series. Extremely funny shows! Buff

The "Farndale" show being performed by the Launceston Players is "Macbeth". They had a team in "Relay for Life" (as did LMS) and the baton was a sign that had the info on it. Buff

The Costume Co-Ordinator went to Hobart on Saturday night to see Les Mis. She raved about it - breathtaking was one of the words she was using. Buff

Some reactions I have been sent or have seen on the Les Mis site. This show has had national TV coverage as well. The new Tasmanian Theatre Unit Trust has made its mark! (-:
"You really don't want to miss this one, they've raised the bar for everyone involved in theatre in Tassie." - David Walch, well-known Hobart theatre dude with a major e-mail information service.
"You must see this hugely entertaining and moving show." - Mercury, 13 March 2008 "...an inspirational night of extraordinary entertainment" - Mercury, 17 March 2008
Rumour is they have the Theatre Royal booked for next Easter as well.
Final show this Saturday.
