Hello,
I saw the Hobart production of Les Miserables on opening night, it was amazing. Brilliant singing and a very good production, although I did think the 2000 Hobart production was better.
I know people involved in the show and they say The Producers will be performed at the same time next year.

I know people involved in the show and they say The Producers will be performed at the same time next year. That would be a big coup for the state. I haven't heard of it being done by a non-professional group yet. Buff

The Examiner report that there's a new Company in Launceston - G-String Productions. Originally from Canberra, Rod and Liz Beaver are looking to get involved in the local arts community by producing the hit show they produced 2 years ago. (See Audition forum) Buff

i saw les mis during easter and was amazed at the talent this show had to offer. In particular the calibre of male voices. I have seen this show four times here and overseas and this was equal, if not better than any professional undertaking. Valjean was incredible as was Javert, Fantine and Eponine. There were some very clever directional ideas for this show. Costumes in some scences(not every) were seemingly slapped together. This production truley set a new benchmark for tassie theatre.

Welcome, caeser. Hope to see you posting more in the future. Glad you enjoyed the show. As I've said before, heard nothing but good things about the show. Buff

Not heard anything yet. The Players have called for expressions of interest from directors for next year, and the Musical Society haven't made any decisions yet. Buff

The musical society are doing Oliver ... made a call for expressions of interest for some production team members ... auditions are yet to be announced.
I've heard auditions have been for new company G-String's, Shout.

Well, Launceston is now awash with theatre groups - Players, LMS and two new Companies - G-String and Encore Theatre Company. Click here for more infor. That means three big shows at the Princess Theatre (Oliver - LMS; Shout! - G-String; and Sound of Music - Encore) all in the last half of the year as well as Players' Farnadale at the Earl Arts. Hopefully there will be enough performers and audience to go around! Buff

Launceston College's production of "All Shook Up" is on at the Princess Theatre at the moment. A friend of mine saw it yesterday and said it was an excellent production - ideal for the college age students. She really enjoyed the whole show with the exception of the story got lost in the second act, but that's a show problem, nothing to do with the production. Buff

The advertising push for G-String's production of Shout! is on. Saw the TV advert yesterday and there have been ads in the Examiner as well. I've also received text messages from cast members! Buff

The Launceston Players cast of "Farndale...Macbeth" will be in the wall on Saturday 19/07/2008 10:30am - 1:30pm to promote their show. They will be in full costume and (I think) will be doing excerpts from the show. Buff
