Bit of local show news

Players are talking about doing Hot Mikado next year

LMS are talking about doing a kids show this December (Hansel and Gretel), which is apparently being written by one of their members. Next year they look like doing Oliver and Snugglepot & Cuddelpie

G-String are doing Grease in March next year out at Longford

Encore are doing High School Musical, Joseph and Singing in the Rain

Lots to choose from!

"Dinkum Assorted" has sold out - Congrats to the Players! And "All Shook Up" has had a really good week at Scotch Oakburn.

Encore has had an ad in the paper for "Are You Being Served" in July and word is that tickets are going mad.

More on the LMS kids show in December. The "Hansel and Gretel" script is currently being written by their secretary Gina McKenzie. And "Oliver" has been confirmed as their big show for 2010 and that Danny Gibson has been asked direct it.

Plus some southern news from Exit Left. They are doing "The Sound of Music" at the DEC in 2011 and are rumoured to be negotiating with some 'big stars' (ie remember Deborah Byrne in their production of "Cats") to appear in the show. They are said to be chasing a big star for Von Trapp? John Waters, anyone?

Sounds like a busy time for all!

LMS have officially announced what most people know already that there 2011 major production is going to be "Oliver".

From their website:

The Launceston Musical Society announces
their new production for 2011 ...

We require over 150 children (Grade 4 and up) for this memorable production.
Adult actors, singers and dancers are also wanted.
