Encore Announces it's 2011 Line-Up:
The big productions keep rolling along with Encore Theatre Company, and 2011 is no different. The venues are booked and the rights are confirmed.
In 2011, Encore will “return to the beginning” and where it all started for Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice with the newly released UK Tour Version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat!
With a crash of drums and a flash of light, this colourful retelling of the biblical story of Joseph, the boy with the dreams and the dazzling designer coat of many colours, sings out to young and old alike with a score full of wall to wall hits - including Close Every Door and Any Dream Will Do. Oh, and did we mention the MEGA-Mix?!
Encore is also pleased to announce that Launceston will play host to an all-new production of Disney’s High School Musical!
This incredibly popular show has already spawed 3 sequels, and has been dubbed “the Grease of the new Millennium”.
And to join in the celebration of the 100th Birthday of the Princess Theatre in November 2011, Encore will stage a much-loved stage classic that to our knowledge has never been performed in Launceston before! Watch for the announcement on this show in upcoming weeks!

Encore Theatre Company proudly announce their third production planned for 2011 and it's an absolute classic...
SINGIN' IN THE RAIN
The story is about a dashing, smug but romantic silent film star and matinee idol (Don Lockwood) and his glamorous blonde screen partner (Lina Lamont) who are expected by studio heads, to pretend to be romantically involved with each other. They are also pressured by the studio boss R.F. Simpson to change their silent romantic drama (The Duelling Cavalier) and make their first sound picture, renamed as the musical The Dancing Cavalier.
There's one serious problem however - the temperamental Lina Lamont has a shrill New York accent. Don's ex-song-and-dance partner (Cosmo) proposes to turn the doomed film into a musical, and suggests that Don's aspiring actress and dancer girlfriend (Kathy Selden) dub in her singing voice behind the scenes for lip-synching Lina. The results of their scheming to expose the jealous Lina and put Kathy in a revealing limelight provide the film's expected happy resolution.
The 1952 film version starred Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor, but WHO will star in Encore’s 2011 version, timed to coincide with the 100th birthday celebrations of the Princess Theatre!!
